Illustrations for storybooks

Velux Storybook

For this project, I created illustrations for a company that sells Velux skylights and blinds, based on classic fairy tales in which the skylight motif could be prominently featured. Classics like *The Bremen Town Musicians* and *Mother Holle* were reimagined in a slightly different way, yet remained faithful to the original source material. An important element of the illustrations was that a skylight appeared in every image. Sometimes it was just a detail in the background, sometimes much more prominent—but it was always an integral part of the image.

Tilly the Squid

In this story, we follow little Tilly the squid through a day when she wakes up to find herself hiccupping rainbow-colored ink blobs. Tilly sets off to visit her ocean friends to ask them for advice on how to stop her hiccups. But no matter what she tries, she just burps up more colorful squid ink, painting the sea’s inhabitants every color of the rainbow.

Family

In this style exercise, I wanted to experiment with a Bluey-style interior and character design, which could then be developed into a full-fledged IP. I conducted in-depth research into the system of shapes and rules that define Bluey’s visual style, and based on that, I developed a similar style that suits my own aesthetic.
